A magnificent unbeaten century by Yenula Hewavitharana guided St. Anthony’s College to a commanding 175-run victory over St. Sylvester’s College in their Inter-School Under-17 cricket encounter played in Katugastota.
Batting first, the Antonians piled up an imposing 292 for 3 in 50 overs, with Yenula anchoring the innings with a brilliant 134 not out. He was well supported by Praveen Gamage, who contributed a fluent 88, and Chamalka Ishan, who remained unbeaten on 39.
In reply, Sylvester’s were bundled out for 117 runs in 34.2 overs, despite a fighting 59 by Gagana Lankeshwara. The Antonian bowling attack was led by Sanithu Gunathilaka (3/4) and Imesh Rajapaksha (3/17), who dismantled the middle and lower order.
This dominant performance reflects the strength of the Antonian U-17 squad and highlights Yenula Hewavitharana as a rising star in the school cricket circuit.
