Sri Lanka’s rising junior golf stars Jevahn Sathasivam and Reshan Algama are set to tee off at the prestigious Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship in Indonesia, scheduled from June 10–12. The tournament will see top-ranked junior players from around the world competing for glory, and Sri Lanka’s participation underscores the island nation’s growing presence in the international golf scene.
The duo earned their place in the event based on their current World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) status — Jevahn is currently ranked 599, while Reshan holds the 770th spot. Both players have a proven track record on the junior circuit and have previously represented Sri Lanka at national and international levels.
Reshan’s Consistent Rise
For Reshan, this will mark his third international tournament in 2025, following impressive outings at the APGC Junior Championship in Hong Kong and the Nepal Amateur Championship, where he finished a commendable 4th out of 60 players. His selection highlights his steady form and growing stature in the global junior golf community.
Jevahn’s Anticipated Comeback
Jevahn returns to international competition after a short break due to injury and academic commitments. Known for his long-range power and technical finesse, Jevahn made waves in 2024 with standout performances at the Sri Lanka Amateur Open, Sri Lanka Junior Open, and several Nick Faldo Series events. As the reigning national amateur champion, he is expected to be a strong contender not only in Indonesia but in future Asian tournaments.
Both players will be looking to make a strong impact at the Ciputra Championship, representing Sri Lanka with pride and aiming to secure top finishes against the region’s best young golfers.
The Sri Lanka Golf Union has expressed confidence in their abilities, calling their participation a promising sign of the country’s growing depth in junior golf talent.
