Paris Saint-Germain Win First UEFA Champions League Title with Record 5-0 Victory Over Inter Milan

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) made history on Saturday night by winning their first-ever UEFA Champions League title with a record-breaking 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the final held in Munich. This result marks the biggest winning margin in a Champions League final, showcasing a new era for the French club.

Desire Doue Stars as PSG Crush Inter Milan

Teen sensation Desire Doue, just 19 years old, scored twice and assisted once, delivering a performance that will go down in PSG history. Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Senny Mayulu also found the net in a dominant display of attacking football.

Under the leadership of Luis Enrique, PSG finally lifted the European Cup after years of heartbreak, including a loss in the 2020 final. The victory also makes PSG only the second French club to win the Champions League, following Olympique de Marseille in 1993.

“We have made history. This club deserved it for a long time,” said Hakimi after the match.

Luis Enrique Joins Elite Club of Treble-Winning Managers

PSG’s win completes a historic continental treble (League, Domestic Cup, Champions League), making Luis Enrique only the second manager in history—after Pep Guardiola—to achieve this feat twice. Remarkably, both managers won their first treble with Barcelona and their second by defeating Inter Milan in the final.

“He has changed everything at PSG,” Hakimi said of Enrique. “He deserves it more than anyone.”

PSG’s Team Ethic Triumphs Over Star Power

This victory is especially significant for PSG, a club once criticized for relying too heavily on star power. Without Lionel Messi, Neymar, or Kylian Mbappe, Enrique’s young, cohesive team has succeeded where previous superstar-stacked squads fell short.

The match saw PSG dominate from start to finish. Inter Milan, runners-up in 2023, failed to register a significant threat. Manager Simone Inzaghi admitted: “It didn’t feel like my Inter out there.”
