Lahiru steers Bloomfield to win over Chilaw Marians

All-rounder Lahiru Madushanka hit a superb knock of 54 in 21 balls with five fours and four sixes as Bloomfield recorded seven-wicket win with 11 balls to spare over Chilaw Marians CC in their Major Clubs T-20 cricket fixture at CCC grounds yesterday.The game saw a delayed start due to rain and two umpires decided to play eight-over per side. Chilaw Marians batting first scored 66 for 4 wickets in their allotted eight overs.

Bloomfield in their chasing lost both openers Janith Liyanage and Hasitha Amarasinghe for a duck while Ron Chandragupta was also out for four runs. However Lahiru Madushanka the experienced batter took the responsibility and hit a quick-fired half century which paved the way to their victory with 11 balls to spare. This was Bloomfield’s back back second win in this tournament.

Meanwhile Moors SC recorded 11 runs win over CCC in their game which reduced to 11 overs per side at SSC grounds yesterday. Moors SC scored 111 for five wickets and Sohan de Livera top scored with 37 runs. CCC managed to get 100 for 8 wickets in their 11 overs. Ramesh Mendis, Praveen Jayawickrama the two spinners and paceman Garuka Sanketh took two wickets each for Moors SC.

Angelo Mathews (30) and Dunith Wellalage (18) made unbeaten knocks as Colts CC recorded seven wickets win over BRC in their game which reduced to 15 over per side at SSC grounds.

The game between NCC and Baduraliya SC ended in no result due to bad weather at Colts grounds yesterday.
