Ananda, Musaeus Super ‘A’ Division Champions

Ananda College Colombo and Musaeus College emerged Premier Super ‘A’ division champions at the S.L.A. Ratnayake Memorial U-17 All-Island Inter-School Badminton Team Championship concluded at the S. Thomas’ College, courts, Bandarawela recently.

In the premier Super ‘A’ Division, Ananda College emerged victorious in the boys’ category, defeating Dharmaraja College, Kandy, while Musaeus College took home the girls’ title, overcoming Anula Vidyalaya, .St. Peter’s College and Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya continued Colombo schools’ winning streak by clinching the ‘A’ Division championships in the boys’ and girls’ categories respectively. S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia secured the boys’ ‘B’ Division title, with Kularathne College, Ambalangoda claiming the B division girls’ title.

After five days of intense competition the tournament showcased talents of approximately 800 young players from 83 schools across the island while Colombo schools domineted the event with winning mejority of titles.

Other notable performances included victories by St. Bridget’s Convent and Vidura College in the ‘C’ Divisions, while schools from outstations also made their mark with Anuradhapura Central College, Badulla Central College and Our Lady’s School-Upper Section, Nuwara Eliya winning their respective divisions.

The tournament  was organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association in collaboration with S. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela.
