Chamod bags 100m at Dubai GP Meet

Sri Lankan sprinter Chamod Yodasinghe clinched first place in the Continental Tour Bronze UAE – Dubai Grand Prix Race 2 held at the Dubai Police Officers Stadium in UAE yesterday.

This is the first time in the history of Grand Prix competitions that Yodasinghe has won first place in a Men’s 100m event, as he managed to secure victory by finishing in 10.27s.

Mohamd Albaloosh (Oman) won second place with a time of 10.39s, and Grindrvir Singh (India) took third place with a time of 10.41s.

Meanwhile, Birmingham Commonwealth Games (2022) bronze medallist Yupun Abeykoon, making a return to the international athletic scene after a four-year hiatus, had to be content with fifth place in the Men’s 100m Race 1. He finished the race in 10.39s.

The first place in this event was won by Ali Al Bazooshi (Oman) in 10.19s, second place was won by Ali Hajji (Bahrain) in 10.30s and third place was won by Fola Olaoye (Nigeria) in 10.31s.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s 4X100m Men’s Relay Team finished fourth with a time of 39.41s. The team consisted of Meron Wijesinghe, Chamod Dissanayake, Dineth Weeraratne, Chamod Yodasinghe and Yupun Abeykoon.

India ‘A’ won this event with a time of 38.76s, Oman took second place with a time of 39.27s and India ‘B’ secured third place with a time of 39.30s.
