The five-member athletics selection committee recommended by Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) for the next two years (2025-2026) has been approved by the Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage.

Accordingly, veteran athlete and retired Senior DIG Upali Kumarasiri has been named as the Chairman of the new athletics selection committee.

In addition, D. A. Dayaratne, Ravi Vidyalankara, Sarangi de Silva and Lt. Col. M. K. P. Jayasekara has been appointed as a member of the committee.

Previously, Moscow Olympian Wimalasena Perera served as the Chairman of the athletic selection committee for several years.
