Sri Lanka to compete at Asian Youth TT

The South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship 2025 commenced yesterday in Kathmandu, Nepal and will conclude on April 27.
Sri Lanka will be represented by a strong contingent of young paddlers across four key categories: Under-19 Boys’ and Girls’, and Under-15 Boys’ and Girls’.
The championship, which brings together the region’s most talented young table tennis players, also serves as a qualifier for the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship, with the top two teams in each category earning a coveted spot.
At the last South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship 2024 held in Sri Lanka, India emerged as the dominant nation, leading the medal tally with a total of 17 medals, including 13 golds and four silver medals.
Sri Lanka secured second position with 12 medals, comprising one gold, five silver and six bronze medals. Bangladesh followed with seven medals (two silver, five bronze) while Pakistan earned 10 medals with a strong presence in bronze (nine bronze, one silver).
Nepal and Maldives also made their mark, securing five and four medals respectively, each with one silver and a combination of bronze medals.
The event promises intense competition and a valuable platform for the region’s youth to shine on an international stage. With high hopes and national pride, Sri Lanka aims to make a strong impact in Kathmandu and secure their place in the upcoming Asian Championship
