Army Men and Air Force Women Crowned Champions at 13th Defence Services Boxing Championship


The 13th Defence Services Boxing Championship, held at the Air Force Base in Katunayake, witnessed a commanding performance by the Army men and Air Force women, who emerged as the respective champions of the tournament.

Army’s male pugilists dominated the competition, sweeping the podium with eight gold medals, one silver, and one bronze. Their women boxers also made a strong showing, securing two golds, one silver, and two bronze medals.

In a fierce contest among the women’s teams, Air Force pugilists clinched three gold medals and two bronze medals, showcasing their strength and skill.

Highlighting individual excellence, Army’s Rukmal Prasanna (men’s category) and Sanduni Priyadarshani (women’s category) were adjudged the Best Boxers of the meet, earning top honours for their outstanding performances.
