The 7th SSC Open International Rating Chess Championship organised by the SSC Chess Academy on behalf of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka [CFSL] and the World Chess Federation [FIDE] will be held from May 1 to 6 at the Grand Rocland Hotel Matara.

The competition will be held for both male and female players Rated in categories 1401-1500, 1501-1600, 1601-1700, 1701-1800 and above 1800, unrated category,  under 6,  under 7, under 9, under 11, under 13 and under 15 categories for boys and girls, Best player over 50, Higher Education Sector Championship for over 18s and Mercantile and Government Sector Championship.

Cash prizes totalling Rs. 1.3 million will be awarded to the champions and first and second runners up of all categories except for the under 6 category for boys and girls, Best player over 50, Higher Education Sector Championship for over 18s and the Mercantile and Government Sector Championship.

All international competitors who enter, and have ratings over 2,200 ELO will be provided with board and lodging while those with less than 2,200 ELO will be provided with lodging only. Local players should be registered with the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka to be eligible to enter for the event. 

Entries will be limited to the first 550 and will close at 2pm on April 30.
